Albany Fishing Spots
Submitted by Piggy on Thu, 2013-02-28 11:44
Gday,
I am heading down to Albany this weekend with family and friends and I am hoping that a local could point us in the right direction on where to catch a feed. I wont be taking the boat down so it will only be shore fishing. I will be taking beach rods and small rods down. Obviously I cant go rock fishing or anything a little more dangerous because we will have small kids with us aswell.
If anyone can give me any spots or pointers it would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Hey Piggy
Depending on how big/small your kids are, I would try emu point for a start. Nice easy rocks to fish off. Can catch squid in the channel and even whiting/herring/cobbler
If beach, I would try misery beach - good for whiting/herring and this beach is usually protected from big swell (depending on wind direction). Its out near the whale place.
Middleton beach is also good - even the jetty at the southern end.
Little beach out at Two Peoples bay is also nice - depending on weather and swell can be large.
Nanarup is a typical southern beach, 4wd on and find a gutter etc Or even the nanarup inlet there people say they do catch stuff.
Hope this helps a bit!

Whatch those kids down there. Even some of the sand beaches (Salmon Hole being one) get deep quickly and a big wave will drag you back in with it.
