Albany - Boat Fishing - Advice and Tips
I posted a few weeks back looking for tips about Albany but looks like everyone out boating. So thought I would try again.
I am going to Albany for a couple of weeks (January/Feb). I have a Ally 6.1 Quintrex. Will be staying at Emu Point. Want to do some fishing with son and hopefully find some reasonable ground. Never fished this area before so any general tips - dangers to watch for - what to expect etc will be really appreciated.
Plus would appreciate anyone who may be kind enough to give a few general tips which direction to head and depth to be in to get to reasonable deepsea fishing ground etc. Will be launching from Emu Point mostly unless I get other suggestions. PM me if you would rather keep it off the forum.
Also appreciate any advice for in close fishing like squid, KGs and crabs etc.

Im off down there next week
Im off down there next week too.
I dont normally miss out at the islands, just need the winds not to be blowing.Pinkies,Queenies Blackarse and big KGs.
If there is an easterly you are fairly protected launching fron Emu Point fishing along the coast to Gull rock.
I prefer launching in town as the ramp doesnt get as crowded, slightly further out to the islands.
The easterly winds are the biggest problem fishing in Albany at this time of the year.
Enjoy

for this time of the year
the wind forecast is about as good as it gets.
2 days up to 25 knots in the arvo but the rest under 15 for the week with mornings around 5 - 8.
heaps better than Perth

I'm down here at the moment,
I'm down here at the moment, got out past the heads yesterday and got a couple of dhus, couple of monster black arses and a mix of amberjacks and skippys. Red snapper like flies. Need to get out early to get reasonable winds so you don't drift to fast. We were out past Vancouver rock on a few lump I found in the past.
When out in the open the swell and the wind can change quite quickly and I usually try and start back before the wind gets to strong otherwise it makes for a long slow trip home.
