affects on tranducer part 2

well, for those who read the first post i was wondering if the shape my hull, affected the way the transducer was working.

after ajusting some of the settings, it deffinatly did work better, i was getting a good pic up to about 18knts,

but i had already installed the in hull tranny and thank god i did.

here are some pics.

the pics with the silver tape on top are with the transom mount tranny,(that was to remind me what pic was what)

the others is the in hull,

i took pics at slow speed and at nearly 30knts(its hard taking pics at speed)

rear mount @1.1knt

in hull @4.2knt

rear mount @26.4knt

in hull @28.6knt

as you can see no other settings where changed so i think that it speaks for its self.......

the in hull is much better and a dont think has lost any thing from going trhough the hull.

cheers ron

grayzee.

its a p79 wet box tranny i got from all boats, not knocking them but you can get it off the net at half the price, heres  the link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lowrance-P79-600W-50-200KHZ-In-Hull-Transducer-/400114834763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d28b3dd4b

very easy to install and only about 4" in dia.

yer steve, thats what i am hoping,

we had a over nighter at heron bay and manage to get out for a fish for a couple of hours, much much betterLaughing, it was shitty out there and give up and come back in to drink some of the jimmy stuff.

got the biggest snook i have ever seen in my life while in the bay(32cm) plus a few kg's and some squid.

got to test my tender out as well! look out rotto.

cant wait to go for a propper fish now out deep(maybe your way if you get my drift)

cheers

Get rid of half of that clutter

Sun, 2010-09-19 18:37

Zoom the image to ignore the top 10 metres - then compare.  I also far prefer moving to manual gain and sensitivity rather than auto settings as they have a tendency to increease clutter whilst decreasing the ability to see what you want (sharp ledges, overhangs and caves)

Good luck

looks good

Sun, 2010-09-19 23:24

pics look great but i dont think we can buy a sounder that can really give you a true bottom picture when you are doing nearly 30 knots there will be a lot of missing info even though you get a cleaner pic you should really concentrate on sounding around at a slower speed for your detail which i hate to say after you have purchased a expensive inhull tranny you transom mount will still perfectly give you but the pics still look great and hope you clean up
