Hi guys is it just my computer or is any body else getting posts up on their screen with one or two words in the post in red type. If you make the mistake of clicking on one of these words your computer is taken over by bloody adds and crap saying your computer has faults etc. Or as I am inclined to think some how I have got a virus,
So is anybody else suffering from this crap,
Or if it's some new kind of virus how do I get rid of it, I have a virus killer but it isn't working on this crap.
Help please

No ads

Hey man I never see any ads on here. Do you get random pop up ad windows when you're just browsing the net sometimes as well? You might have some spyware / malware type viruses that standard anti virus software doesn't look for.

Download Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti Malware from some links Ill put below. Install them and run a full scan and it will probably find stuff your anti virus isn't picking up and remove it which should stop a lot of the weird stuff and ads etc from happening.

Also worth downloading Google Chrome the browser and using it with the AdBlock Plus extension that you can install. Just search extensions on Google. It works unbelievably well. Will stop any and all pop ups, ads on the sides of pages and even gets rid of all youtube ads so you never have to watch an ad before a video again.

It's all free software shouldn't cost you anything.

Heres the links for the two anti malware scanners:

Spybot S&D: download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

Anti Malware: download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Hope that helps!

I run Adblocker on firefox for no more pop ups and malwarebytes is good also ( young bloke got that Federal Police scam which locks computer up it got rid of that ) . Might run that Spybot as well and see if there's anymore bugs .

I've used Trend Micro Titanium for the past couple of years. Used to use spybot/malware programs and all that but have personally found them unnecessary if you go for a top quality AV program.

If you get a scam like the fed police one that locks up your computer. Just do system restore say a day before you got it. I run Norton and adblock in Google chrome and never have any dramas. Adblock is free and a great program.

I'll vouch for the system restore as well...however it doesn't always work as I found out with one particularly nasty trojan, particularly if it goes and hides every single file in your PC!

Yeah I've had that too Justin, even my computer guru couldn't get rid of it so had to format the system. Why are there Aholes out there that do this.If I caught one he'd get my size 12 boot up his rectum.

Sounds like a Hijack infection

Anti-Virus is fine but for something like this i'd go straight for the free/trial of Malwarebytes
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button

Make sure to allow it to update once you've downloaded and installed then proceed for a full scan.
