Abrolhos Island Charters info
Submitted by Goodz on Tue, 2010-01-26 15:05
Wondering if anyone has been out with them and what I can expect for a 3 day charter in March. What sort of fishing do they usually do, is it all bottom bashing?, what depth of water is fished, etc etc... starting to prepare gear now! Might have to contact them and ask a few questions but thought I'd see if anyone has had the experience themselves.
Thanks for any help!

I went out with Aqua Jack
I went out with Aqua Jack from Dongara a few years ago, was pretty good. Did some macky trolling and bottom bouncing in water up to 60m deep. Mainly caught pink snapper, with some baldies and red throat as well. Very nice spot and worth the trip. I'm not sure if there's any that run a bigger baot and smaller tenders for fishing, this would be the way to go if there was as there's some great shallow fishing the "cray" style charter boats just can't get to.

Sammut. if you want to head further north give Unreal Charters a call in Shark Bay. i know they do trips like that , worth a try as they are top blokes and do put you onto the fish

mate been out with rat
mate been out with rat patrol 3 times now and its great jay is the best cook and tim the deckie is great too
i have only been in september but id say you will be catching jewies ,baldchin, snapper, oddd coral trout
so mainly bottom bashing but they will troll at times if asked if you love shark fishing at night on anchor there is some fun to be had
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

hey goodz
i live in gero and myself poddy and spooled try to get over there as much as possible. you can do al sorts of fishing there from pelagics to bottom bouncing from a couple of ms to a couple of hundred off the shelf. i'd say the rat patrol will be bottom bouncing most of the time. its a great place over there we love it.

Cheers for the info guys.
Cheers for the info guys. Can't wait to get up there. Will prepare for everything but mostly expecting we'll be bottom bashing so probably give some jigging a go for whatever is hungry for metal or plastic. Will write up a good report when I return so keep an eye out in the future!
Now to sneak some money into the fishing gear fund without the missus noticing.. :D
