Ab day cancelled
Submitted by ChrisG on Wed, 2019-01-09 17:20
Saturday the 12th has been closed to Ab fishing due to predicted dangerous sea conditions??
im confused I had it at 1–1.5m swell with no wind whatsoever until after lunch....don’t care about the boot rubber closure, but was planning for wide bottom bash early. Am I losing my shit or have they closed for bugger all reason and it’s going to be fine...?

I was just reading the same
I was just reading the same thing, thinking the same thing and logged on to post. If they think the weather is poor Saturday then I'd be suprised if the ab fishery opens at all this season. Not that I was going to bother anyway

Whats going on with Fisheries Department??
What games are they playing here? All those people going for their morning abalone.... only to be told its cancelled due to bad weather... Low tide.. low swell.. low wind...
Its probably going to be one of the safest mornings of the season so far.. Hate to be a fisheries officer come Saturday

Spewing. Just renewed mine and my sons licences and this was going to be my only shot this at them this year. Pretty disappointed.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Everyone is forgetting the
Everyone is forgetting the wave period is peaking Saturday morning.
the decision would have been made on that and nothing to do with wind and swell.
with the high wave period I suspect they believe there will be a few big sets coming in and breaking in the reefs which as we know can kill a lot of the ab fishers.

Doesn’t really affect
Doesn’t really affect boating, just means there’s more time between the waves and usually means the waves have extra force behind them making them bigger than normal.

I wimpered. Due to the ban, weather, work, hangover, and a seemingly endless supply of children's birthday parties always at 10 I haven't been in the ocean since Oct!
Ima still launch early and either quickly raid a spot in the 30's or just chuck some lures around inshore

Fu@kin Joke
Sick to death of over regulation at present in this state, imagine if they banned boating if the wind got over 15 Knots. Anyone got a pic of the conditions north of Trigg this morning. Most probably a win for the Ab population.
