80 Mile Beach Marine Park + Sanctuary (Lockout) zones

Gday all,

Just getting this out there so anyone interested can have their say. Some of the proposals seem excessive considering that this is some pretty remote country and is not visited much during the wet.

Even if your not planning to fish the area your kids might want to one day ...

Anyway just trying to get some more fishos to have a say and put a stop to these "sanctuaries", or at least reduce the impact on recreational fishos.

Political deals done

Tue, 2011-11-08 09:32

Political deals done previously have sealed the fait of eighty mile beach and I will bet my left nut it won't make jack shit difference what rec fishos say. Same has happened with Roebuck Bay in Broome, deals done with the local indiginous people by DEC and no consultation with other user groups . Camden Sound is a joke to appease the greenies but the people that actually go to this region wanted more important areas there looked after but got ignored. Go figure.

Dec have been fairly good with their communication. I have had a couple of phone calls and a submission package sent to me. Still going over it.

Have to agree with

Have to agree with billcollector - the submission process seems to be done to tick a box rather than deliver a better result. I know heaps of people responded to the proposed marine parks in the west kimberley and they were largely ignored.
