4WD north of 2 rocks

asked a mate  to assist me in a small job at Yanchep yesterday. Suggested afterwaerds to do some 4 w driving(expert)  through the tracks north of two rocks (I'm less than a newbie)

No probs finished the job and went to the entrance to the dunes at two rocks. 2 cop cars with at least 6 4WD's pulles up as they leave the dunes, trail bikes quads, all being checked. Even a flat bed towie turned up to take some vehicle away.

Bit concerned but mate said no problems just drive past them. Did and went along the track 5 mins later Chopper overhead just continued trying to negotiate the tracks, small bogs on a couple of occasions got out of them and over the tops after a couple of tries.

got to the ocean at last and what a mess- never so much weed and the beach was washed out at least half a meter down Surf was very rough

told Mike I didn't want to go back the way we came (my Vehicle is old - always pick a fault somewhere if they want to)

By the time we got out of the dunes we were nearly at Guilderton Still, learnt a bit about 4wd-ing and had some fun - even though I was 2 hours later than I told the missus

There's some good tracks up

There's some good tracks up there mate, quite easy to get lost for the day & great fun.

The fishing's pretty good in places, be wary of that beach though. It's caught some experienced people out in the past.

A mate and I went out on

Tue, 2011-08-02 11:52

A mate and I went out on sunday for a 4wding session around the Alkimos area. Was amazed at how many people and tracks there were as it was my first time off road around those parts. Took the fishing gear incase the wind eased off (not bloody likely) but spent about 4 hrs riding checking it all out. Is it illegal to be in that area? There was loads of people parked off marmion ave with thier bike trailors etc. so im guessing not.

Unfortunatly the whole

Unfortunatly the whole Alkimos area is off limits to everyone as is everywhere south of Wilbinga. Its a sore subject with my mates and i because we have been 4wding up that way for many years and a few years ago we were told we couldnt acess the dunes ect anymore because of "conservation, land management and land erosion". Its good to see the D10 dozers, haul trucks and excavators all doing there part for land management up there now. Im unsure of the fines but i did hear $1000 per tyre mentioned in various circles.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Cheers Matt

Yes, your right Matt

No go zones all the way up to Yanchep and past. Matt, you should know that anything which makes money is considered as environmentally responsible land management mate. They pay for dudes to write reports to prove it.

That bites the big one. I`ll have to start looking round for legal tracks then.
