Bend Split pin tails to stay, and then tap prop nut lock tab washer tabs down with gentle taps on a screwdriver (or drift punch of you have one) with a hammer, such that the tabs lock into place in the machined recesses in the outward face of prop reverse thrust washer!

This helps stop the castellated lock nut from falling off while at sea (and hence the propellor doing likewise) should the split pin be damaged / lost while in use!

Only each second tab wiill line up with a recess so just bend the 3 that match a recessed slot position!

The tab lock washer is designed to have at least 3 tabs align with a recess wherever on the thread the catsellated nut comes tight! You won't be able to bend all 6 tabs into a recess!!
