ive heard that a hatchery in jurien bay holds tanks which have broken and something like 180 tonnes of YTK are running down the coast
so far ive heard of sightings and catches at leeman, yanchep lagoon and hilarys
does anyone know if this is true or not?

I didn't notice the auctions
I didn't notice the auctions for the WKL gear apart from the boat. That boat is why they went bust too. The aquaculture guys needed it to treat the fish for some really pissant problem but it was a year late so they got screwed.

Time of the year
There is always hoodlums around late summer....especially on the back of the 3 mile all the way up to Lano, jurien etc.....right upto Steep point....
flat clear mornings you can see 2-3kg fish in packs of 3-4 cruising the outer metro reefs ....they spook easily though in shallow water.
I watched 3 fish about 15kg swim past the back of the boat near Dryer Is SW Rotto three weeks back....they wouldnt take a rubber, metal or bait.....didnt have livie to try....they hung around for 2-3 minutes under the boat like cobia...
The YTK farm got a virus or disease a few months back....there was a concern that it might spread to the wild stocks...all a bit concerning about the states Biosecurity because Fisheries dont seem to have a effective "Outbreak" plan....they seem to have relied on self monitoring by the business....hopefully the light went on some where and there has been changes made so iif somelike it happened again there will be more transparent answers.
thats said I would be very surprised if the fish spotted and caught around the place recently came from the farm....

I was fishing off Lancelin
I was fishing off Lancelin jetty on about the 13th March. People were catching a fair few of these things, they were going for peoples herring rigs with prawn baits. Most people naturally got busted off, but a fair few got landed onto the jetty. I thought that was wierd..

YTK
My mate Brad has been hitting Yanchep Lagoon the past week and has hit 6 there in the last couple of mornings.
Very tentitive bites and not the best fight. They are aroung the 45 to 70 cm size. Just hitting mulies and very sparodic. But all the same it's still good to catch fish not normally known to hit our shores
