Xzoga loaded-up on a Sambo
Submitted by Colin Hay on Wed, 2008-10-15 11:11

The recent opportunity to visit the Key Biscayne with Simon C also gave me the opportunity to test out my new Xzoga PE4 jig rod. The rod handled fantastically well and I never felt like it was going to let me down. The two pics Simon snapped were when the fish was pretty much beaten. (How do you like my lip action LOL) All the best, Colin Hay

Lol Colin, That is my old Rugby hooker face
As for the rod, the big test came when a bigger sambo ran straight back under the boat - I can tell you it was really bent over then.

Probably felt like you'd been in a scrum afterwards.

LOL Colin
I know I would rather fight a Sambo than some of the junior All Blacks that gave me a bit of a pounding many years ago.

yeh...alot heavier!!...rod
yeh...alot heavier!!...rod is PE4 rated, reel was a little large for it....6000GT with PE8, possibly even 10, as it was KC's GT reel.

The line came on the reel and I hadn't gotten around to taking
it off yet. Kasey, that's pretty good line. The line received some serious nicks when a big sambo ran straight back under the boat, but still held together, not like the 130lb split ring.(Colin 1 - Co-founding member of the prestigious Colin Club)

Yes, if you can launch out of Lancelin it would definately make
it a much nicer trip.

Great pics colin. Looked like you had a ball.
Just got back from Townsville myself. Went there to have a chat with the guys up there and was hoping to test out the Xzoga PE5 popping rods against the GT's but the winds was blowing 25Knots so things didn't go as I hoped. But I'll be back!!! hopefully sometime soon to snap a few pics of the GT's.
