We struggled for a 25cm one yesterday up around Basso/South Guildford but amazingly I pulled out a 36cm flathead. Never caught one up that far before

I was using the SX40 and trolling it along the flats. I always chuck back the bream too but flatties get spiked as soon as I measure them

I went for a quick flick on
I went for a quick flick on friday morning around redcliffe/ Sth Guildford. got 5 or 6 bream around 30cm mark and a couple of small flathead. There was no shortage of action if you fish right in the snags. I was using soft plastics.
I have caught a few flatties of late up stream around Sth Guildford area when targeting bream. Plenty around

Not by our standards mate,
Not by our standards mate, come summer I like to catch at least a dozen good size bream in a couple of hours.
I love the SX40 (40 is the size) in the 303 colour (gold back/clear body). Killer lure for bream, flatties and YFW

I use the z-man 2.5" grub
I use the z-man 2.5" grub with a 1.5g squidgees jig head. I use different colours on different days as sometimes they like one colour better than the other. I also have a fair bit of luck with the flattys on the pink Paddle Prawns. On a good day you'll catch them on bait and plastics but I find that you will get a few more on plastics on the days where they are reluctant to bite or not feeding.

Bream Tip
I'll give you guys a tip, with the lack off rain this year ive been getting them way up from Guilford. Some fisho's have been getting them all winter from West Swan and further up river.
They should start to spread out into their usual haunts soon and you will be able to fish your regular spots.
There have lots of Flatties up that far too.
Cheers Grant
