whale pingers alarms
Submitted by uncle on Tue, 2013-09-03 08:08
caught the back end of a show last night abc, in queensland they have developed these electronic pingers to put on large fish nets to warn whales that they are swimming into them, works well and they are trialling them on cray pots, worrying part was they said whales are increasing 10% each year, so in about 9 years they will double in number, now thats a big concern for the ocean and sustianability

Sounds a good
idea Uncle.
Old fart read in a newspaper somewhere that the state or Federal government is looking at the lines of banning crayfisherman (taking their license away) that don't shorten their ropes when they come in from the deep, but can't remember which paper, as to me they have to lengthen them to go deep which requires time, so when they come in they have to also make the time to shorten the ropes. If its true about the increase in population something needs to be done to help the whales on their migration path.

What do you mean by 'whales
What do you mean by 'whales are increasing 10% each year'?
Whale populations or incidences of whales becoming tangled? Or something different?
