Warnbro Beach advice
Hi Guys
I have just moved to Warnbro and was wanting to give the beach fishing a try.
I've just moved here from Scotland so my knowledge of rigs and tactics for beach fishing in oz is not great, I was going to try the beach near Hilda road as that is the nearest one to me, from reading stuff on the net I think night time is the best time to give it a try, I think that there may be Tailor around but I am not sure what else, can some one tell me what species I might catch and what the best bait / rig set up to use would be ? I was thinking mulies on ganged hooks but am not sure.
I noticed on Warnbro beach that there is a drop off into to deeper water around 20 or 30 meters out, is this where I should be trying to put my baits ?
any advice would be greatly appreciated
Dunc

Sounds to me like you've got everything spot on! Although try sunset into the night rather than arriving at night, you may have missed the action by then.

Hey Dunc You can catch
Hey Dunc
You can catch Herring, whiting silver bream and tailor on light gear and can target large rays, small sharks etc on the med/heavy gear. Mulies will work for the tailor, but along that stretch of beach i find blue bait or whit bait on a small set of gangs more effective plus you can also land herring etc on the same rig. fillets or whole baits of fresh Herring, Tailor or a whole whiting are good baits for the rays and sharks, a running sinker rig with as little weight as you can get away with and a long light leader works best for the smaller fish and burley works wonders also. For the larger stuff a running sinker rig with a heavy leader of mono works or wire if your chasing sharks, as the weather warms up the fishing along there can be pretty productive. Good luck
