Vehicle parking when going over to Rotto for a few days ??
Submitted by Mainey on Tue, 2010-10-12 20:14
Hi,
I've been asked to go to Rottnest by a "resident" over there
Question is: where can I launch my 4.2 Mt tinnee and park the vehicle and boat trailer for a few days and expect it still to be there when I return ??
Need a concrete ramp as I drive a 2 wd and will be driving up from Busselton
I understand can be tied up to one of the small jetties there
Or have I been told a story about that ??
Thanks in advance
till

Its a bit more complicated
Its a bit more complicated than that!
If you leave your car and trailer at East Freo, you will be broke by the time you get back, so try another ramp!

2wd launch
Is possible at the mosman bay ramp depending on how much sand is on the ramp and you can leave your car there with some degree of safety. Definately not a good idea to leave your car at woodmans point

Matilda bay is the safest,
Matilda bay is the safest, as the area has security patrol for the houses in the area.
but I'd get a friend to rather take your car & trailer home and bring it back down when you need it again.
We had this issue back in 2004 & 2005 when going to Rotto for the holidays and not wanting to leave the Crewman and trailer at the Hillaries ramp. I ended up using a taxi from a mates place to get back to the ramp, while wife and son waited on the boat in the Marina, not ideal, but all we could think of then.

cockburn power boat storage
Give them a call. They are at woodmans point and lock up your car and trailer in their yard for $25 a night.

Weather dependent
Mainey ,dont want to rain on your parade but in anything other than perfect conditions getting to rotto and back in a 4.2 tinnie is going to be an adventure.
However if you decide to go I may be able to help with storage of car and trailer
When is this planned for ?

the "adventure" & big fish is why I'm going out there
I've been round to the West Coast in it, but I am not prepared to go out there in really bad conditions
I have not got a definitive date to go there, yet - but it will be for a few days mid week before December.
Thanks for your fantastic offer - I may take you up on it
