its never good to hear news as sad as this. the forum will lose a fellow fisher in time to a horrible disease. may the rest of your time with family and friends be fulfilling. lost a good fishing partner to an inoperable brain tumor 4 weeks ago. miss them dearly. enjoy the rest of your time on this planet. good luck

Gday Tomcat,Thank you for
Gday Tomcat,
Thank you for your advice on subjects both recently and in the past.
Its no consolation, but my father in law has been dodging the effects of advanced Prostate cancer for the last 6 years but it may will eventually get him. Hopefully not.
I usually have a light hearted piss taking response to most things on here, but I sincerely hope you can get through the challenges that you have in front you.
Good luck mate.

Family and Friends
That would have been very distressing news to hear Tomcat. Whilst we probably haven't met, we all share a common passion (fishing), so on behalf of my family and friends heres wishing you all the best for whatever extra time you can grab mate. Make sure you spend as much of it as you can with your loved ones and doing the things you love to do.
Unfortunately the big "C" effects just about all of us, wether its a family member or a friend or work colleague or you yourself its all too common. I certainly feel for you and your family.
As others have said, put up some pics of your fishing exploits for prosperity, we would all love to see them and help put a face to a name.
Cheers

although you were not fishing for sympathy tomcat, you well and truly got it!
reading the sentiments expressed here with my wife and remembering family and friends that have succumbed to cancer, we were reminded of one of my grandads last comments.

after reading your first post
after reading your first post about qutiting smoking it made me think a great deal about life family and mates, i have been smoking for 13 years, pack a day etc, then had a fight with the misses and that ended so am now a single bloke etc but the next day after thinking time and time again about your post i have quit smoking now and trying very hard not to have any more, i have not had any for 2 weeks and i must say i feel better for it, thank you for making me think about the bigger side of life other than a 20 dollar packs of winni golds.
all the best mate

I will
I will try mate. I didn't know how to reply to your post because it hit home hard. I have been a smoker since 13 years old, and now 43 i realize the chances of something bad happening are very high.
I wish you and your family all the best, and I have set a goal for myself . So you have helped someone mate, and i bet i'm not the only person reading your thread that has had a wake up call about the effects of smoking.
Thanks Tomcat for sharing your fishing adventures and life on this site.
Cheers. Grant Arctic .

Hi Tomcat
I have been following your post since you put it up and i must say, i am very impressed with the response and attitude that has been expressed. I give you and your family my best wishes and hope as you do, the people above take the message seriously. It is humbling when big men share emotions. There are a lot of great blokes on this site. A major reason why i am part of it. Hang in there mate and thanks for the advice. It is impressive to see the response you have received. If you need anything, just ask.

You're getting the message out there Tomcat. That's awesome. I will get my boys to read this and learn something, although they have sworn they will never smoke.

Hang in there
Hang in there Tomcat, there are a lot more people looking out for you than you can imagine, so keep the chin up high.
Gave up smoking a pack and a half a day on 3-3-89 after an accident at work where I received 40% first and second degree burns over my body and face and had my last smoke on the way to hospital. Was in there 2 weeks when I asked the missus for a smoke, she asked the nursing sister on duty and she asked her politely to leave the room, once the door was shut she let rip with words I hadn't even thought existed and proceeded to blister what new skin I had left off. That was it,didn't want to front up to that nursing sister ever again though I ran in to her years later and thanked her for the extra push to give it up.
