Good work plenty of fun to be had in the river atm and always good to unwind with a quiet fish hey. Someone may correct me for being wrong here but ive had the same thing with bream lately where the look like they have been attacked, but I heart that is a paracite or infection called red spot or something.

If you have a phone with a camera take pics

Freshwater causes ulcers as does handling the fish and putting it back with dry hands

Acid on your hands doesnt help

Handling fish takes the protective slime off. Putting the fish back in freshwater means less protection and more propensity to ulcerate

Handling fish with a wet cloth as little as possible in catch and release best

My mate and I caught about 15 with that on them the day before NYE I took photos and called fisheries they said they have quite a few specimens at the moment and that it isnt anything new, it has apparently been happening in spring for the last 20-30 years with october normaly the worst time for it and the fish normaly heal from it by now. It is also thrives in brackish water and belived to have been introduced from people dumping aquarium fish and non tranferable to human through touch or from eating (but stuff that haha)
