Southern Cross Charters

G'day All,

after getting the run around from a charter company down Freo which is affiliated with another site I was sick of being treated like a limbless leper. Fortunately this coincided with me joining FW and finding Southern Cross Charters, subsequently we have a charter on tomorrow (after getting the lads to commit!!) So far I have nothing but praise in dealing with Kim from Southern Cross he has been the consummate professional and has been very patient with my requests and inability to organise a piss up in a brewery so to speak. Can't wait to get on board and from my lot there should be a few sore and sorry heads early on following a big night on the sauce with the rugby, shouldn't be a problem berleying up!!

Anyway I will post pics if we get on to the good stuff and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the fishwrecked site for igniting my passion for fishing again and also Kim for putting up with my sh!t. Have a good one and lets go the wallabies...

Cheers,

Liam

What an awesome day out with these guys!! True to form there were sore and sorry heads bright and early amongst the Aussie boys! However one chirpy Saffa! who was out until 430am celebrating caught a cab to our mates afterwards let himself in screwed the lock on the door and passed out. An hour later when I am banging on the door it all kicked off as the boys could not get out of the house leaving a fuming Ozi, an unhappy handbrake and well lacquered Yarpie who couldn’t get his pants on.

We all set off with only the Saffa in full swing declaring that it today would be a clean sweep with him catching all the fish whilst we pondered the tri nations, bledisloe and ashes. After motoring out to our first spot our pissed Nostradamus had been partially correct, he caught the first fish a 'sweep' yelled out "1-nil" then projected some berley over the side sending a few others off in unison doing the same... poor buggers were not even in our group.

All up awesome day with Dhuies hitting the deck around lunch all released well bar 2 kept with one hitting the scales at 15kg. 3 baldies (belonging to my sister’s boyfriend with 2 hitting the icebox... bastard), blackarse, lots of just undersize pinkies, fair few yellow spot and a sizeable port jackson at the end.

Southern Cross are great; awesome charter they run with a boat built for fishing, a skipper keen to get us on good ground. A special mention to our young deckie Stevie, this bloke was an absolute gun and he made our trip. He has a wealth of knowledge that shouldn't be possessed by someone that age; his passion for fishing was clearly evident. He was great to have a yarn with and all the while got about his duties quickly and efficiently with all the kept fish being spiked and iced before you blinked!   Had a chat to Kim who is just purchasing new gear for the jigging season and I can’t wait to get back out with these guys again this summer to stretch my arms. I highly recommend these guys to all members, enjoy.

Cheers Liam

Ps. Mac illiterate (computers in general) will have to bring the pics into work and upload

I can't remember the

I can't remember the skippers name unfortunately but he was a great bloke, good for a yarn and was more than happy to explain to the crowd in the galley on route to another spot what they look for on the sounder etc. I believe the skippering is left between Kim and this guy, however the boat leaves from mindarie and we motored out to approx 16 mile looking around the 60-70 mark initially and fished around the 50-60 all day.
Mate I was not prepared with what I saw when I had to get the boys up especially when he forgot to bring appropriate footwear with him and decided on wearing his 'pointy leather goey out shoes with a bokka jersey, hilarious shit he was in fine form from the get go but oh what an almighty crash!
