You may find the line is the temp.

It gives you a track of temp so if trolling you can keep in a zone of warm water.Eg the temp was around 24 in the area you are in.

Fairly small show IMO. I

Fairly small show IMO. I would not be that confident with that sort of show On an otherwise featureless bottom, but still much better than nothing on the sounder.

We had much better shows yesterday for no hits in a few locations, sometimes the fish ain't hungry.

From what I see the split

Sun, 2012-01-29 11:03

From what I see the split screens are showing the same range 0-40m. zoom the bottom lock split to show the bottom 5m (ie: 35-40m range).

And the line is a temp line.

Skinny green line on the RHS

Sun, 2012-01-29 11:38

Skinny green line on the RHS is temp, you can even see the scale in the middle of the screen. It counts down to zero and isn't on the bottom.

The light green on the bottom of the screen is a very light show, whatever it is.

I was fishing in the 50's

Sun, 2012-01-29 11:50

I was fishing in the 50's yesterday with the gain set at 3.1, I usually don't fish more than 35-40 m in my tub.

I adjusted the gain to 4 and instantly had flares showing on the bottom lock.

Definately adjust the bottom lock to 5 mtrs.

agreed

hey man overboard.   absolutely true about the gain thing.  had the exact thing happen to me last weekend.

wasn't seeing any flares at all in 30 odd meters with gain low. did see fish though.  turned up gain , and suddenly , allsorts started popping up off the bottom.

No fish that cause you were

Sun, 2012-01-29 13:09

No fish that cause you were in the sand mate, the light green flare on both photos more than likely bait fish ie mulies, yellowtail, nothing wrong with the gain you getting a good mark up just no ground there. try set you range around 20 meters is a bit more forgiving when looking for heavy country. Drive over some shallow lumps and ground that you can see and learn what the sounder is telling you.hope this helps

Cheers Boomer

Sounder Pic Info!

Sun, 2012-01-29 19:34

Ledge;

Not alot of ground or descent echoes but zooming in ie select a range and use the SHIFT button will allow you to zoom in closer to the bottom (RH side screen) to see structure & fish!

Set your range to 10-15m, press the SHIFT button until the ground is showing on the bottom of your screen and have the left hand side screen showing bottom lock of say 5-7m!

With the menu you can also delete weak echos ie the weakest blue shade (15%) with Colour erase. The other thing you can do is in the menu also go into Clutter control and minimise (10%)

This will help you find and indentify good ground & fish!

Hope that helps......all the best!
