Sounder Interpretation

Hi Deep fishers
This is a pic at 370 Metres. I thought it looked like fish, but nothing caught in this area.
Anybody happy to give their interpretation?
Eric

What ever it is is up to 30
What ever it is is up to 30 m thick (rhs) and up to 40 m off the bootom. those echos are not overly strong signals indicating smaller fish, so I would say bait. The lhs of screen is much strong echos (deeper red colour). I reckon they are good size fish closer to the bottom 10 - 20 m up.
Fish! HARD!

As the title say's its all
As the title say's its all interpretation.
Your sounder will only show the strength of any return and herein lies the problem with saying its this or that.
Theoretically A 1000 pound marlin that just brushes through the outer edge of the beam may only show as one or two pixels (thus a weaker signal and not red despite the size of the fish), if it goes through the middle of the beam it will show a very strong and large return.
The above is consistent with bait but there's no reason that some larger predator may also be present or in the area. Also need to keep in mind bait will behave differently when predators are around -i.e bunch up tighter - if you see a large solid ball (would be red in the above colour palette) you could bet it's bunched up tight because it has something looking to eat it.
Most of the above bait (interpretation only) appears to be a bit spaced out but where it's more red on the left it could just be more tightly packed. The few showings above this could theoretically be predators pushing it down and causing it to bunch up more than the bait on the right (I don't actually think that's the case but it's not impossible).
I can picture (from a diver's perspective) a big bait ball with some lead fish (from the bottom of the pack) starting to swim off in some direction (and packing tighter as they do so) the rest of the school is following and there are a few stragglers swimming down to join the lead group as they head off. But it's all guess work

I read somewhere that if a bait school is relaxed and feeding then it spreads out. If its panicked and threatened it balls and spirals up
