I just feel dejected after today. Our last quarter efforts are beyond embarrassing. I really thought we were on the upward curve and today's effort just smashed any hope I had for the rest of the season. Can't see us beating GWS or Adelaide away and Hawks at home and I wouldn't be surprised if Freo do what they do best and jump us as well as Collingwood pulling one out.
We lack the killer instinct required and just don't appear to be playing as a unit and the players and coaching staff need to do some serious soul searching.
The one thing I can take out of it is the rapid development of Tom Barrass and the impending departure of Mitch Clown.

Some disappointing news
Some disappointing news coming out of the WAFL. just read they have suspended the player involved in the sling tackle for 10 weeks. I feel its a massive over reaction to an unfortunate accident. Yes the tackle is a sling and that's how it should have been judged

In criminal law there is a
In criminal law there is a significant difference in penalty when convicted of intentional conduct as opposed to careless conduct (eg reckless v careless driving). My understanding was the west perth player was charged with careless conduct, therefore nothing intentional about it. Gets ten weeks. WTF? Barry Hall intentionally wacks Staker with a fist to his jaw and knocks him cold (think of all the one punch deaths that have occurred as a result of similar hits) and gets 7 weeks.
One of those two results is wrong. Doesnt really matter which one. But one is wrong. If a careless tackle is worth 10 weeks, a deliberate punch is worth a season. Or if a delilbrate punch is worth 7, a careless tackle is worth at worst one.
Terrible tradegy and i feel for everyone involved.

In 2010 Pat Travers (the absolutely filthy mongrel dog) chased down and king hit Brett Wolfenden from behind and fractured his cheekbone in 3 places putting him out for 5 weeks and got a 6 week suspension. All clearly seen on video.
I'd dare say that West Perth were more than willing to appeal the charge but you can understand the poor young fella involved not wanting to drag this week out any further and getting back to playing footy may well be the last thing from his mind at the moment.
Very sad situation for all and I hope the East Perth player is able to recover and get back to some kind of normal life.
