Frosty

Frosty, you posted as I was writing, but as usual when you saw the colours you were all over it,

This is my retirement present to myself, so if you see me on the ramp please remember

I am an Oldie who will try his best not to take too long to Launch and Retrieve.

The old boys at the ramps are fine Skull, most have it down to a fine art and I’ve held a rope to help out for quite a few when they’re doing it alone. It’s the husband and wife team that have just taken the boat covers off for the summer and clearly have no idea, screaming at each other that cracks me up.

Enjoy retirement and the tranquillity of mid-week fishing. My old man retired after 40 years in the fire service this year and I’ve never seen him happier!

If the budget stretches have a look at drive on/drive off systems. I installed the L&R boat latch on mine and it makes launching and retrieving a dream and I don’t even take my shoes off anymore.

Maggie at the ramp

Mon, 2018-11-12 21:45

Hey Skull, nice tub you got yourself there. Get Millard’s to show you how to launch/retrieve using the bar catch, it’s super easy to do yourself if you have someone else in the vehicle. There are also a couple of decent videos on YouTube that show you how it goes. Saying that, check out a recent clip of the hook, line and sinker boys with the boat on the concrete to reinforce getting the chain on before taking it out of the water.

They have a nice ride at the best of times and handle some pretty shit conditions well also, have fun getting to know ‘her’.

Will do

Tue, 2018-11-13 06:17

I will get Millards to run me through all of that stuff especially the launch and retrieve mechanism,

They have been extremely helpful throughout the process as I have added stuff or changed a few things along the way,

I saw the Hook Line and Sinker show with the 780 sitting on the ramp, tough as nails but not a scenario I wont to be in.

Really looking forward to getting her wet and if I catch a fish that will be a bonus, at times just nice to be out on the water.

I’d love to be a fly on the aerial when someone dings that beautiful paint job with a sinker !!! .You might want to invest in some bicycle inner tubes to make some sinker hoodies ....:)

top looking unit skull !!!

top looking unit skull !!!

you can sing this below when you christen her !!

Maggie May
Rod Stewart the fishermans lyrics

Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you
It's mid november and I really should be back at sea
I know you keep me amused but I feel I'm being used
Oh Maggie I couldn't have tried any more
You lured me away from home just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart and that's what really counts
The morning sun when it's in your wake really shows your pace
But that does please me some as in my eyes you're everything
I cheered at all of your moves my love you didn't need to coax
Oh, Maggie I couldn't have tried any more
You lured me away from home, just to save you from being alone
You stole my soul and that's a love I cant do without
All I needed was a boat to have a happy day out
But you turned into a lover and
mother what…
All I needed was a boat to have happy day out
But you turned into a lover and
mother what a lover, you have never wore me out
All you did was wreck my marriage
and in the morning take me out to sea
Oh Maggie I couldn't have tried anymore
You lured me away from home 'cause you didn't want to be alone
You stole my heart I couldn't leave you if I tried
I suppose I could collect my tackle box and get on back to sea
Or steal my daddy's lures and make a living out of selling fish
Or find myself a rock lobster pot that needs a helpin' hand
Oh Maggie I wish I'd never seen your deck
You made a first-class slave out of me
But I'm as blind as a slave can be
You stole my heart but I love you anyway
Maggie I wish I'd never seen your deck

Hezzy that is very good, thanks for that, it will be stuck in my head now everytime I go out,

Silver Fox, you are right it will be painful when that happens, however, I will get some marine carpet, attached it to the inside of gunwale, roll it up when travelling and unroll and hang over the side when fishing. Hopefully this will stop it from happening a bit.

Paints tougher than you think

Mon, 2018-11-12 14:38

My last boat was a black crusher and the paint can take a few sinker slaps, fishing boats are war horses mate, give the marine carpet a miss and enjoy.

I could

Mon, 2018-11-12 15:12

Hey Uncle, I could name it after our star Mr Grundy, however the boat needs a female name, so Maggie which is a form of Magpie is what I agreed to name her,

And Coastrunner you are probably right about the paint, I am just a bit paranoid that those that you take out with you (Son and Sons in Law) aren't as careful as me.

But I plan to enjoy her and hopefully catch a couple of fish worth posting on here, just need the Tranny to arrive and then off to Albany to try her out.

Noice boat, I love my Barcrusher, you'll love the ride and how good they are to fish out of.

Its hard to believe its only been 6 weeks since the West Coast Eagles played the and won the 2018 AFL Grand final, against all odds in one of the best GFs ever played.

I've got a few names for your crusher.....Bunga? Shoey? Dom? Guv? haha

You don't want to name it

Mon, 2018-11-12 22:15

You don't want to name it after a player as it will eventually become dated. How about 'The Eagles Has Landed' or 'Colliwobbles' or if you must name it after Brodie Grundy you could go with 'Top Knot' which also has a fishing theme

Oh Frosty

Tue, 2018-11-13 06:23

Mate you never cease to amaze me with your little bits of wisdom, I should have contacted you before I named the boat, I don't mind Top Knot, however my Deckie (Wife) is more crazy about the Pies than I am (Perhaps) so I doubt she will allow for a name change.

But thanks for the suggestions.
