With the salmon almost in perth just need a few tips on how to catch them as this is first year targeting. We have a boat 6.1m so will be helpful to get to those offshore reefs thinking mewstone. Just need some info on what are you guys favourite lures for boat, what pound leader, favourite methods to catch them i.e trolling, casting, bait. Favourite time of day, favourite spots off fremantle. Does burley help at all. Also where is your favourite fishing store in perth to buy your lures thinking tackle west in cannington or AFW in freo. Cheers.

personally i have always had
personally i have always had more success catching salmon form the shore.fishing for them from a boat is like combat fishing if there is decent school. boats come from miles to cram in on a school and do lots of stupid things......treid form the boat in dusnborough once or twice, and will never do it again!
if u target them by boat, then i would travel around looking for the birds/bait schools...or if us see 100boats packed into a small area that may be a safe bet.
i tend to target gutters on the beach, usually a 10-12 foot sur rod depending on the swell, 20lb briad, usually 20-30lb leader.
unweighted mulies if using bait, or metal twistys/stickbaits for lures.. in my experience when the schools are coming thorugh and feeding, they will take just about anything.

Not to be rude but
Use the search function on left hand side of screen. you will come up with lots of info. Salmon are not hard to catch.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

I dont run wire but cant see a problem if you chose to do so.

Mewstones can be a carpark
Thanks to the Internet everyone ends up at Mewstones and it is where the worst behavior comes from, and you do need to be vigilant not to end up on the reef. There is a bombie just south of Mewstones that is a bit close to the surface for comfort and not marked on charts. Touch wood - never had an issue with boats around the rest of the sound with people working well together, but that may just be me. Not hard to find just look for the birds and/or boats but harder work than heading out to Mewstones and finding a spare car bay. Couple of other reliable spots that are public knowledge with a little bit of effort. When they're on they are a lot of fun particularly for the young ones, also a great chance to try different tackle and techniques on hard fighting fish (fly, light tackle etc.)
