No salmon this year!
Hope I'm wrong but it just ain't gonna happen in the metro. As most on here know, salmon migrate annually west and then north from their normal place of residence in the bight. They do this to seek warmer water for spawning purposes, and not being stupid, they time it during the period when the warm Leeuwin Current is flowing at it's strongest (Feb-May)...saves 'em a LOT of kilometres.
Once they hit the optimum water temp they do their thing and head back home...don't know what that temp is, but it's certainly less than the 24C to 25C we were getting in the metro area a few weeks ago, and this very warm water pushed all the way down past the Capes. That is why there have been virtually NO reports anywhere north of Augusta/Hamelin Bay, apart from the very odd one or two small schools along the West Coast and the resident smaller fish in the Peel region.

yeh i know all the comments
yeh i know all the comments about them not coming piss me off the most, get out there and give it a go, i did and on the second outing i got stuck into them. I saw a couple out at mewstone in february when the water was boiling, im not saying that we're going to have a great season but some people are just being dippy downers and spoiling the adventure for some in my opinion
