Reel for Powerspell OH PE4-8

 Hi Guys and Girls

I'm using Torsa 20 on the above rod for a tiny bit of jigging (no success) and for bottom bashing running 50lb Finns.

I think the Torsa is a bit big and heavy and its ratio is 6.2:1 which makes it a mission to wind up a rig and heavy sinker 300m (if you've had to let line out in a drift fishing 150-200m say).

I'm after something a bit lighter and smaller with grunt and thinking 2 speed with lever drag.  Would probably spend $500-$600 on eBay.

  1. Any suggestions based on what you're using?
  2. If I ought to have dedicated sep jigging and bottom bashing outfits please let me know.

Thanks very much.

i just bought an accurate bx400n at 4:1 didnt realise otherwise i would have bought the 6:1. very happy with the way it feels and looking forward to drawing first blood with it.

i think they are an older slightly outdated model but used it for the first time yesterday (trying to jig its pretty slow at 53cm per turn) but they do make a 600 and 500 in the same model and 2 speeds why would you want a 2 speed??? unless your fighting a fast fish that then goes down deep and u need to winch/pump it up i dont see any reason for 2sp.

it cost me $420 landed and has 300m of saltiga boat braid pe 4 (55lb) and i would pit it against anything up to 30kg without a second thought.

I've tried to do the bottom basher/jigging combo and im finding they dont mix to well (im new to jigging), bought a saltist 40hyper speed with 7.1:1 ratio and it cranks the jigs up and gets strike but i just dont like the reel so i've now designated it to a trolling outfit for cranking in speedsters running back at the boat.

i suggest you buy as much fishing gear as you can ;)
