Portable 12V LED lights

FW Crew ,

Does anybody know of a really good quality portable 12V LED lighting system that could be used for the likes of Mountain Biking or clamping to a Rifle Barrel etc. Would have to put out some good light and be quite long lasting, I`ve been told the "AY UP" system is good quality but thought i`d get some opinions here as there`s a wealth of knowledge out there.

Cheers Timboon...

Cree LED light

Thu, 2011-07-21 09:16

 Hi Timboon

I purchased a Cree LED torch from ebay, fantastic unit has variable focus so it can flood light the area dirctly in front or have a spot light that can brightly iluminate a building 200m away. It is only powered by one AA battery and for only around $14.00 I thought it was great value.

They also have other torches that may suit your needs

 Whats your maximum budget,

Whats your maximum budget, ebay has those magicshine bike lights 1400 lumen(over exaggerated rating) that should last about 3hrs with the battery pack from memory cost under $150, you wont find a led light in Aus that is crazy bright compared to HID still in the ancient 3w leds.

p.s Candlepowerforums is where i usually go to get reviews and ask advice.

Thanks for the info, as far as the budget the "AY UP" lights that I've already mentioned aren't cheap so I guess as long as it is as versatile as those for no more $$ then i'd consider??

Thu, 2011-07-21 22:51

I have a Magicshine on the dh bike and i love it ! I had the dual 10w Niteriders but magicshine is way better and especially for the price. For diving i have a  Light-for-me which is even better most run on 12v but cost upwards of $500 and dunno about heating issues above water. Id go a cheap Magicshine.

I'd imagine Vinnie if your using the Magicshine for DH then it must be worthy!! I can see benefits of both the AY UP and the magicshine. I`ll keep doing some research there's always a pro vs con with any purchse though hey!!
