Point Peron ramp

This morning we had to park on the grass at point Peron boat ramp along with 50ish others as all the parking bays were full. We returned to 2 rangers/council workers dishing out parking fines, luckily we just missed them but alot of others were not as lucky.

We spoke to them asking what we are meant to do when the bays are full and 1 ranger replied "if you can't find a bay you can't go fishing from here" and "you can launch from bent street" since we were heading to west end this didn't seem like much of an option.

I thought the reason we pay for our fishing licences, boat and trailer regos etc was so we can have access to ramps like this one and have ample parking provided?

To top it all off the ranger vehicle was parked in bus only area, probably because there was no where else to park....

Yea then after he sat there

Sat, 2017-01-14 12:58

Yea then after he sat there booking people he moved and parked just passed the cleaning table heading to the ramp on the verge on the L/H side and continued booking people parking on the verge right in front of him and all the ones on the grass between the ramps and that road.

Double standards alright....the slack bastard couldn't even walk around the place.

I didn't get booked but I felt sorry for all the ones that did. Carpark was full, cars out on the road and the ones who did park on the grass or verge were not obstructing the access for any one else so in my opinion no harm done.

If there were plenty of parking spaces available then sure book them as they are just being lazy bastards. But when it's full like that they should be a bit more reasonable.

I counted about 30 cars with tickets

Single Car Bays only

Thu, 2017-02-02 16:09

I USE THIS RAMP AND BECOME ANGRAY WHEN INCONSIDERATE SINGLE CAR USERS OCCUPY A PARKING BAY DESIGNED FOR CAR+TRAILER. MAYBE THE RANGERS COULD DO A BIT OF EDUCATION WITH A VIEW TO IDENTIFYING SINGLE CAR BAYS WHERE A TRAILER WILL NOT FIT FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL.

That's Rocky council for you

Sat, 2017-01-14 15:14

Where there is a dollar to be made regardless of it being right or wrong they are into it.

There may be regulations about parking of road and on verges etc, rocky council will shout from the roof tops that they want people (visitors and residence) to come and enjoy the water play ground they have (not we they) and then show just how much they appreciate your business and spending in the local businesses they show no constraints in persecuting those that come into the area and use the water based facilities.

When these are over taxed, do they extend a bit of hospitality like extending a waver to those unable to locate adequate parking, noooo we will give them a days outing they won't forget in a hurry.

One of the reasons I left the area.

What a dumb response from someone who is employed by the Rockingham City Council.

This morning I just happened to go past the following boat ramps in the area: Bent Street Ramps - Carlise Street(Beach/Sand Launch)- Palm Beach Ramps.

All were very busy, parking an issue at all these ramps.

The Council has open up "Grassed" overflow parking at Bent Street and Palm Beach. These vehicles park on the grass....what is the difference at Point Peron?

Is it because the grass is dead at Point Peron, and the other two area's the grass is nice and green? (Tongue in Cheek comment)

 Unbelievable Rockingham City Council!!

Rockingham Ranger Pt Peron

Sat, 2017-01-14 18:53

 I read this in disbelief...

So we can get hit with the fishing tax..aka Licence..to provide better facilities, restocking and artificial reefs, better parking etc.

Drive anywhere up to 60/ 80km one way to put the boat in for a day out to be met with a Ranger and council with an attitude like that.

These people need to wake up to themselves.

Whats the attitude " Can't make any more money off parking so lets fine them?"

They must be getting pointers

Sat, 2017-01-14 23:09

They must be getting pointers from the city of Joondalup!! They're the kings at this sort of crap!!

My official response when I challenged the fine I received a day after Boxing Day was that I should not have stayed... So on a busy day I am expected to launch my boat, have it sitting on the jetty, look for a car park and if none found return to my boat and retrieve it and go elsewhere.

Common sense and any form of decency has been lost to the pursuit of profit.

Sun, 2017-01-15 08:43

Some areas are signposted others were not, some people fined others were not, hadn't seen fines there in the past this weekend started, Just a money grab. Pick a day and all those with fines go to the council office on mass, write a detailed letter about the inconsistancies and post it in the paper, This sort of crap needs to stop.

That ramp is part of the Kwinana City, so they need to get down there and sort it out. I know what you mean though, it's a pain in the arse.

No brainer

Fri, 2017-01-27 19:11

If you want people to come into your area and spend their dollars on petrol drinks food etc, use you brain and realise that Australia day is a special day and when the weather is playing the game you are going to get a big influx of people. Rockingham puts it's self forward as an aquatic play ground.
For special days you don't have to be Einstein to work out a lot of people are probably going to use your launching/retrieval facilities, simple solution, declare an over flow are for that special occasion.

People will leave the area with a better opinion of the place (and thus more likely to come back) than go home with a decent fine and a won't be coming back attitude.

And what would it cost the town, zip, nothing bugger all.
What is there to gain, a lot of good pr.

Ramps

Sun, 2017-01-29 19:27

Been like this for years and the councils don't give a stuff about the people who just want a day out fishing or just boating

They build these ramps and in most cases only 2 or 3 and if you are half hour late it is most likely you wont got a park.

The fishing fees we pay each year to help address this situation doesn't seem to be working I have boat ramped from

Broome to albany and in some cases the ramps are atrocious and i hear many stories of nothing being done.

Maybe its about time the recreation fishing department put more pressure on councils.

But for the moment lets keep fishing as I'm sure the situation falls on deaf ears

If you live

Sun, 2017-01-29 22:54

If you live in the town of Rockingham don't just give up on getting change.
Send them an Email about the lack of parking and ask them the question,
how do they view the question of not being enough trailer parking spots and what about over flow parking for the day.
Am I asking you to something I wouldn't, certainly not.
I have sent the same question to Mandurah council about parking at the local ramp just down the road from me. The answer was blah blah money blah blah, but, at least it got their attention and they now know that people are taking notice of what councils are not doing, to make visitors welcome.

Old fashioned justice

Mon, 2017-01-30 01:43

Im sure the fucktard lives close by??

Maybe old fashioned laws deserve old fashioned response??

Just something for the little nazi pricks to think about.

Hopefully they read this forum.

People are getting sick of this state and its petty little laws and dictator councils taking away their way of life.

Peaceful people are only peaceful until you push them one too many times.

Bloke is just doing his job. If the council didn't have the law in place, the issue wouldn't be here.

I have an issue with people parking there when it's ehen there are ample bays free but when it is full, simply going home isn't a solution.

Well it will be interesting if they continue to clamp down on it even on quieter days.

We cant really complain to much. Great facilities with wash down and cleaning station and we dont have to pay to use it. l drive past woodies to use it and have done so for 10 years.

parking

Tue, 2017-01-31 14:23

i would be sending a letter with this picture to the council stating the lack of parking has made you park in a spot where the council has fined you for it but to fine me the council has had to break the law by parking in a bus zone therefore you will not be paying the fine! as the council has broken the same law in which they are trying to enforce! if they are going to enforce a law then they should abide by it themselves

We just received a fine in

Thu, 2017-02-02 20:58

We just received a fine in the mail today. Dated 14/1/17 11:54am. $65. "Parking contrary to a sign in a parking station(not in a marked bay)".
No ticket left on the day. Guess they took the photo and had to go look up the rules and figure out what they could nail us on. We had reversed the trailer down almost to the seaweed just before the fenced cage on the left after the washdown bays. Never noticed a sign on that side, but guess there is one somewhere (or is now).
Always thought common sense prevailed on busy days as I have done the same thing for the last 10 years and not been fined.

Would not be so annoyed if only they would fine some of the lazy pricks that park all over my parents lawn verge along the foreshore. So bad we have given up replacing sprinklers and turned the water off. Cant miss the no parking sign there, and quite few actually reverse into it judging by the angle it is on.
