Loctite number 3

Loctite number 3 is usually the best in that situation. If a premade gasket it not available them this would work.

 Whatever the gasket material

Whatever the gasket material is I use the Peratex aviation form a gasket which is slow drying and non hardening. You don't need much and I have had good results with this.

It is however the same as the Loctite No3 as zOOm suggested.

Either one will sort you out no problems and it's also handy to coat the threads on bolts with to help prevent them seizing and leaking if they require those properties.

thanks for your info, there is no gasket on this application and permatex and loctite number 3 is meant to be used with a gasket. I have found another permatex product called permashield which seems more suitable for my situation.

I used a product called stag when I needed to seal my sender... It was one of the only ones that specifically states being petrol proof.

I've just replaced fuel sender unit in FG tank. Sender unit is set down abt 90mm from tank lid so it's got a head on it when tank is full. Investigated everywhere and Permatex was the only product avail. Done the job for me - no leaks. 60g tube from memory.
