My Grandfather and a few of his Vet mates. These blokes founded the Denmark SLSC and were mostly teachers at the Ag school in Denmark. They used to row out and handline from Ocean Beach. The fish were sundried and salted but I reckon the Jewies never lasted that long. Always a mixed bag.
Bloody Geez.... That is a thumper Dhuie..... Ive got a old photo of my grandfather with a thumper dhuie caught off two rocks years and years ago ill see if i can hunt it down.

How come...
...we never see any more photos with guys smoking pipes?
Those "long" fish appear to be pike/snook.

What no GPS ?
Back in the days when men were men and boats were made of wood !
No sounders , GPs ........or thousand dollar rod and reel combo's .
How the hell did they manage ?

Always wondered...
...what it would be like to take a modern fishing boat, with all the flash electronics, back 40 or 50 years, and see how I went.
But then realised I'd have to take a few satellites back with me as well!
Of course, back then a boat probably wouldn't even be necessary. Just flick a mulie into the Blue Hole at Trigg and there's your 20kg dhuie!

Yep
Yes, Blue groper (if you look close there is a small one on the left as well)
I will try to find out what they did with the snook, probably sun dried knowing him. They used to salt it all down and hang it on racks. Fish Biltong.
