Offshore access to Rottnest
Submitted by RobMeridian on Tue, 2020-03-24 19:43
The Rottnest portal makes it clear that access to the island's facilities are being banned, but..
There's no information on whether we can moor off the island, or access any parts of the island from a boat.
Does anyome have any definite information on this? (I'm going to get on the phone tomorrow morning, but expecting a long wait in the circumstances).
Cheers,
Rob

Have you got your head up
Have you got your head up your arse mate, non essential travel is banned mate, boat road rail and air. How much more clearer does the government need to be FFS.

From RIA I wish to advise
From RIA
I wish to advise that our government has directed that all visitors are to leave Rottnest Island. This direction also encompasses the surrounding Rottnest Marine Reserve.
The RIA has subsequently closed the marine reserve to all boating unless exempted from midnight on Thursday 26 March 2020 until 12 midnight on 12 June 2020. This will be review should circumstances change.

History repeating its self
Way back when western Australia was being developed Rottnest was used as a isolation place for aboriginal prisoners, now it's being used as avertible prison for those Australians coming into Fremantle by ship.
