dangle the crab in reef holes around watermans and u should snare one out - gotta cut the head of straight away tho with a rasor sharp nife - if you dont mind going for a weekender to get a bucket ful of occies - head down to margrets - gnarabup reef at low tide is ussually loaded with em in the holes

legallities

I'm pretty sure the pvc pipe is illegal if its baited atleast in marine parks as it is then classified as a fish trap and all fish trapping is banned in all WA marine parks if not everywhere, well thats what was i told by one of the fisheries research guys but he was scrathin his head about it too.

I used to throw in pots out from ocean reef (unbaited) just as stated a pvc storm pipe with one end cemented off for weight. Leave em out there and check em every week or so. The idea is an occy will make it it's home and once disturbed it will just back up into the pot even wen your pulling it to the surface

Very hit and miss for us tho,we used them as a source for fresh bait on trips out to deeper water
