I spoke with Phil a few days ago about the future of Ningaloo Station. He informed me that the Lefroy’s are appealing the Government’s decision to takeover the station in the court of appeal and believes they have a valid case to maintain ownership of the land.
Ningaloo Station have submitted environmental management plans to the government agency which included the option to completely de-stock the station of non farming animals and convert he station into a conservation park, only to find these plans along with the 30 previously submitted were rejected stating that the development of Ningaloo coast will proceed as part of the Carnarvon Ningaloo Coast Strategy. My experience of the station has been that it is clean, affordable, family friendly and sustainably and responsibly managed.
I can only see this move from the government as a land grab, a decision that will cost taxpayers money to administer and maintain. More than likely camping fees will also increase to the match the other Government run sites near Exmouth with the possibility of entry fees if it is tuned into a park.
I hope the court of appeal will support the option to allow the Lefroy’s to continue to manage the licensed camping areas as they have done since 2000.
The Lefroy family are using their life savings to fight this takeover, if you have enjoyed this beautiful area and you can help out, a go fund me page has been set up to assist them fight this legal battle.

Investors.
I can already see overseas investors lining up for a peice of this pristine area under the banner of Eco Freindly Resorts..... Anything with that title, the govt will jump at for feel good purposes, no matter who forks out the cash they will take it.
Its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$......
Cheers & Stay safe

Well,I'l be contributing to the fund again when my pay goes in,
But I am not optimistic. Going up there beginning of July for our usual 3-4 weeks, and treating it as our last trip. Hope it's not. Finally bought the drone I've been thinking about for a long time, to record it all, as we knew it.
If they do block access in the future, stuff it, I'll launch at Tantabiddy and steam the Reefie down for a bit a camp-out inside Winderabandi. But it won't be the same.

Great point Ranmar
Re launching at Tantas and steaming south. We're counting our next trip as our last too, if they can stretch it far enough till X mas.
Will chuck a few bucks in too.
