Seats

Tue, 2008-06-17 20:31

Yeh - i took the seats out and store the "Tackle Shop" under where the seats were - they are a bloody well setup rig. I sea trialed mine on a crappy day off Mandurah and comfortably sat on 22kts into the s'wester - quite surprised at the ride, you'll love it, I do.

Is that an Evinrude/Johnson

Wed, 2008-06-18 05:36

Is that an Evinrude/Johnson Ficht motor on there?? They had alot of issues with those motors most the early ones blew there top. I can't quite tell from the pic if it is? They are a nice Hull with good resale. Is it antifouled? Always be wary of a trailer boat that has antifoul, most are done for the boat being in the water for long periods and sometimes if the boat has had hull damage to cover up repair, fallen of trailer run up a reef etc. Because you can't see the original hull gelcoat etc, best to check out.

Hope it all checks out OK, they are a top boat.

Great Boat Paul!

Wed, 2008-06-18 07:18

Thats a great set up Paul, took me a while to find the seats LOL, the fold up is a great idea, lots of free space to move around when fishing! The offset bait board had me wondering, then I saw the transom (kill or bait?) tank.

The lockable bukhead should keep the right people incarserated and the wrong people out! Wink

Niiiiiiiiice!!! Cool

Paul - Take them out ? Excited?

Wed, 2008-06-18 16:32

Hi Paul

I don't want to sound fascetious Laughing, but dare I ask, if the seets are really good, why do you want to take them out? Undecided LOL - Am I missing something in my old age?

That built in large esky and bait tank set up is the quackers knackers!

So, you'll be just a little excited with the prospect of a sea trial tomorrow? Cool

Not shore on the seats i surpose after a long day fishing it will be nice to sit down on the way home. There is a 120 liter hold in the floor between the seats also , and yes just a little excited hope theres a bit of chop and its not to flat.

A good test

Wed, 2008-06-18 16:42

Yeah, a good chop will test any boat well for sure. Again, I'll plead my age LOL, but I prefer to sit for a while after a long stint of playing stand up 'bump' with the gunnels. That said, unless in absolutely open and safe waters, I tend to be an 'over the windscreen' (stand up) person myself.

Enjoy the sea trials Paul - I'm sure they'll go well!

Good stuff Paul - Too quick solution

Fri, 2008-06-20 07:32

Sounds like the new tub passed the sea trials with flying colours - no hull ideosyncracies - that's great news!

Come of the trailer a bit too quick:

Paul, I have the same problem, when I attempt undo the chain U bolt and release the boat rope carribean (clip), both from the bow loop, the boat  wants to immediately slide back. This can make undoing both clips difficult and produce quiet a heavy boat launching at high speed, which is tough on your deckie, standing with the bow to stern rope on the finger. To get around this, I use a release rope which is clove hitched to the winch stem and 2 or 3 runs through the bowloop and back round the winch stem. This allows a very ordered slow launch that is easil;y managed by the slightest of deckies. HTH!

Fri, 2008-06-20 08:01

I have the same problem on launching and you have seen my rig paul. I have a cleat on the winch post similar to this http://www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=200&item=16310&intAbsolutePage=1 and just run a rope from the bow through the cleat. It holds the boat in position while you are unhooking it and then its just a simple flick of the rope the cleat releases and the boat freely glides down the trailer.

Enjoy a good hard ...... Fish

these are also another great idea for single person launching on a trailer that allows the boat to roll off very easy, i myself just wrap it around the winch pole once then give it a flick to get it over when im on the jetty.

Fri, 2008-06-20 13:55

Took a hire boat at Jurian, great big plate ally thing - it had skuppers and didn't seal properly - new fish were swimming around on the deck LOL. Not, of course, saying Paul's 'll be like that. I also told him is under floor foam was water logged and he did his nut, denying it. I could tell by how low in sat in the water. 3 days after we came back - he rang me and apologies. 'You were right you know'.......er derrrrrrrrr! DOH!
