New project
Hi FW Members,
Well thought i would share some pics of my new project. Has taken 6 weekends to get it finished. motor has just been serviced and passed with flying colours. Just wanting some feedback from you guys, will be mainly used for river sessions while the bans are in effect.
First the old trailer needed some mods.
the old Sniper colt in the background which donated the trailer, motor and controls for the new project.
Picking up the new project, trailer needs some more mods, front roller not supporting hull etc. Minor stuff.
25HP 2 stroke mounted, while the boat was off the trailer, mounted the 44lb bow mount Watersnake, extended the draw bar and sorted all the rollers and skids.
Floor bracing going in for floor.
12mm marine ply measured and cut for rear casting platform and centre floor.
Rear casting platform, carpeted, hatches, hinges and handles fitted.
Side console mounted and fitted awaitng electrics and steering. centre floor carpeted and fitted too.
Again 12mm marine ply measured and cut for the front casting platform. You can see the bow mount mounted in place.
Carpeted, fittings fitted ready to go for the front casting platform. Plenty of storage now.
All decks/floors fitted now. now here comes the fun part, wiring etc.
Side console getting some goodies fitted. Safety has to come first so the essentials have been fitted.
LED strip lights work a treat as deck lights, lights the whole place up.
Dual batteries fitted in hatch, with LED strip lights in place for when the need arises. Petrol tank fits on the other side.
Skippers seat now fitted and quite comfy. Anchor light fitted and wired.
Almost there guys, passenger seating fitted and side console fitted out in 12mm marine ply and carpeted.
Front seating mount fitted so that the passenger seat can be brought forward while being able to be seated controlling the front mount and throwing lures into the tight spots.
That is pretty much it guys, apart from the clean up of the floor etc, she is all ready to rock and roll. I had to remove a few photos cause the file was a little big. Hope you guys enjoyed the photos, and for those who have a little bit of woodworking skills, electrical skill etc, it isn't that hard to do yourself, everything was done by me and the brother in law, apart from the welding, that was done by a mate. It really is worthwhile to do yourself, I have saved quite a bit of cash.
cheers guys.

Be interesting to see how it goes on the water fully loaded with the 25. May need a donk upgrade with all that gear/weight.
Looks awesome.

That's not a dinghy
That's the sister ship to the Queen Mary!! Absolutely fantastic job! Having done a project myself, I know how much satisfaction you have just looking at it even before it goes in the water. Well done, hope to see you on the water soon.

Thanks guys will definately
Thanks guys will definately post the reports. Big john, the heaviest part of the fitout would be the dual batteries and the 22ltr fuel tank. The 12mm ply was realtively light, i would say roughly 25kgs all up, plus it is only rated to 30hp max. Hopefully it will get its maiden voyage tomorrow. Will let you all know how she hoes.

Hi Guys,yeah as Fishing
Hi Guys,
yeah as Fishing fanatic said i am 6'5" and 120kgs, Brenz hopefully will be doing quite a bit over summer. Well put the boat in for its maiden on Thursday and would you believe the starter motor shat itself.....yeah typical i thought, so waiting for the new one to arrive. Oh and she sits beautifully in the water, i cranked the electric motor on for a bit, and it tonks along quite nicely. Spewing i couldn't test how fast she goes and how she reacts to getting on the plane etc. didn't want to drain the batteries too much with the leccy, not knowing how much it uses yet, so when i have it all ready to go will let you all know how it goes.

Sorry guys, haven't logged in
Sorry guys, haven't logged in for a bit.
knigit, yeah bud i am hanging out, but on the bright side it's all fixed now.
Claymore, yeah mate i have 2 x mp650 marine deep cycle batteries on board, 1 is the starting battery and 1 to run the leccy and electronics, but all switched up so that if one is running low, i can switch them to charge when i start the outboard (which has manual rip if i flatten both) The seats are super comfy too and i got them from BCF Myaree along with the mountings. I can move the two seats to any of the positions i have on the boat, don't know if you can see from the pics but i have a mount on the front deck, one for the passenger and one for the driver, i can put a seat on the front and be lazy while casting and fishing and using the leccy while seated. awesome too.
Torzar it cost me around $500.00 odd for marine ply and carpet, i had to buy 3 sheets and have them cut to size so it cost me more, i have all the left over ply so it wasn't like i got ripped off. The carpet i got from BCF Myaree too and was fairly cheap for 4 mtrs. Not like Bunnings carpet which is thin as. this stuff has some thickness to it.
Had this out the other day with the starter all fixed and omg does she fly, i estimate around 35knots, i had it at half throttle doing 22knots (SOG according to gps)and she wanted to stretch her legs even more, but had to back off due to the transducer not being set up right and was rooster tailing back into the boat. Looked awesome as it was happening though...was roughly a 7 foot tall rooster tail, but that is all fixed now and she is ready to hunt some fishies down.
i will try and get a pic loaded.
cheers fellas, hanging out to get out there soon and have a crack at the bream, flathead, tailor, mulloway, etc in the river, cause really don't want to be out on the sound with the other 6,000,000,000 boats too.

hey jengle, I actually got it from BCF, I believe it is a Bermuda/Mercury marine product, they may have some around the country or you can go direct through the company and find out where you can get them from.
