Navionics upgrade is it worth it?

Is it worth paying the 180ish dollars to upgrade my 3 year old old card to navionics + ? Do you see more contours etc in areas of water 20m+ deep?

 Hi Hilly9

i have been having issues with my maps and have just brought a complete new Lowrance unit.

Given mine was approx 10years old. I have looked into the upgrades of the new maps and would think it is worth it.

I would not normally believe that it is needed. However with the upgrades in the last few years I would think so.

I had a look into this for myself after reading this topic. I would say that if you are like me and haven't got many spots and have been struggling to catch anything decent then yes, looks to be worthwile. You can jump on their webapp and compare the standard navionics overlay with the sonarchart overlay. One thing you need to check though is that your chartplotter is compatible with the update, otherwise you will pay for the update and you wont see a difference. Unfortunately for me mine is not compatible.

Thanks guys. I just did the $14 update of the version on my phone and it looks like the sonar logs do provide alot of extra info. I'll have a look into the chart upgrade for my plotter. Cheers
