mandurah overnight
Submitted by Gav475 on Tue, 2015-12-15 14:10
Going to do an over nighter on the boat boxing day night in the mandurah estuary. Can anyone suggest the safest location to leave the vehicles over night, better lighting, security ect.

I could only suggest Mary
I could only suggest Mary Street but even then we were fishing at the Cut in a well populated spot in Feb at about 6pm with full light and someone still smashed a window on one of the cars.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Fishing club...
...probably a longshot, but give the MOFC a call..possibly get your car/trailer in their gated yard overnight for a fee. Anything else could be "break-in roulette"!

mofc
Tried the MOFC and pretty much got snubbed, they were really not interested in helping. Is it bad down that way like Woodies or is it pretty reasonable.

Ok, next best option...
...have seen vehicles/trailers parked up overnight at the Ocean Marina ramp..it's directly adjacent to the fisheries/water police/DOT building, so somewhat of a deterrent there, and should be a fair bit of activity happening with the canal chrissy lights. Also, because of all the upmarket condos in the vicinity, I'd have to think that there'd be some sort of security patrol.
Also, it's $7 to launch and park there, and it ends at midnight, so technically you or someone else will have to get down there after midnight to fork another $7 for the next day's fee! Coins only! No 5c pieces! Assholes! And being the holidays, it's a sure bet the sleazy little ranger will be all over it.
Might pay to ring Mandurah shire or Marina Admin and try to get the full drum...

Last Australia Day we stayed
Last Australia Day we stayed out over night from the Mandurah Ocean Marina and did as Gilly said. Bought 2 tickets, I see on the ticket machines now that they ask you to go to the marina office if staying overnight. Only down the road a bit. We didn't have any problems there.

Dawesville boatramp should
Dawesville boatramp should be safe, there are lots of people who leave cars there and go out to stay on there moored boats. Its also in a very friendly/quiet part of mandurah. Just make sure that there is nothing left in the car and it should be fine there.

Try the dawesville marina as
Try the dawesville marina as they have a garrison yard there which holds boats only but you should be able to disconnect trailer and vehicle. I have parked my car at the dawesville boat ramp and someone has tried to take my spotties. It was a bit of a lame attempt but still an attempt.

Thanks lads, some great info there. I think the marina is the go with Water police on site. Call me paranoid but I have a 1 week old landcruiser that I dont want destroyed by a meth head. Will touch base with marina admin tomorrow.

Gav call me dumb because I
Gav call me dumb because I didn't think of it before but u are more than welcome to leave your boat and trailer at my place on the front verge or even down beside the house if there's room or the vacant block across the road. Good little neighbourhood who will look after your gear. We are only about 400 mths as the crow flys to the dawesville boat ramp. If I'm home I will even help you launch and retrieve.

Thanks
Mate, thank you very much for your kind offer. There will be 3 boats in total and 2 other vehicles so we would be taking over your entire neighbourhood and would not be comfortable putting you out that much. I think we will park up at the main marina. I had a quick look at their web site and it seems that they have regular patrols and cctv ect. We should be ok but i really appreciate your offer.
