Lobster Pots

I am wondering now that I learned you dont have to retrieve pots daily like I thought, I was thinking I should get some. does anyone know which are the better ones I have seen plastic or wood any preference for either or or is it much of a muchness ? Also what bait do u use in cray pots any tricks I should be aware of ? :)

thanks !

Craypots

The plastic do catch crays but move around more being lighter & more bouyant. We prefer slattys and sell more of them. They sit better on the bottom, dont move around and the crays like the wood feel.

Bait, tuna heads & slimmy mackerel are the go and buying bulk is cheaper.

Crays in the deeper water atm so pot deeper ie 15-25m around reef ledges. They will come back in closer ie Feb/March

Here's a link re what we stock, FW members get FREE crayrope & float. We stock all models;

Got 4 used jarrah pots for sale if you are interested. Another good bait is orange ruffy. Very oily, can usually see a slick coming from the pots. Crays love them. Herring is also a good cheaper option for bait. Can have fun catching them aswell.
