Hello, just got a new heavier beach outfit and keen to give it a work out,and possibly try slide baiting, does any one know of a good beach to try?thanks, Paul.
Try the beaches down south from White hills right down to Belvedre/ Buffalo just north of Bunbury from just after dark through until dawn. Now is the time of the year that bronzies and small thickskins are in close and the pros are out of the water.
yep, great time of year. went out for the first night in ages on wednesday but only got into some rays. Gonna have a decent go tomorrow night.
If your thinking metro any beach can hold them if your there on the right night. look for some deep outer gutters, thats the benefit of sliding you can get the big baits out to em
Like carnarvonite has said though, try to get out of metro area will help your chances a fair bit i reckon...
Cheers for the pointers, wife got me a 12ft Tiralejo and I got myself a 18000 Saragosa to match, saw a few guys on here use them for lb sharks, seems like a solid outfit, time to christen it!!
Running 15kg lostretch, use it on most of my outfits(different bs though!),see how it goes, use it on my Saltist 6500/gary howard LBG out fit too.Might swap to braid with mono topshot at a later date.
40lb would be the go, mono or braid if your keen on an overhead reel.. 6ounce sinker with a slide bait.
I tend to just fire out the live baits via balloon or dead baits with balloon when the wind is working in my favour. But i recon slide baits would be far superior.
never fished floreat, have to try it,should try to get everyone interested in lb sharks on one beach, that much burley and so many big baits in the water should increase at least someones chances!!
looks like i might have started something, The Great Fishwrecked LB Shark Bash, sounds bloody great, maybe we should organise it for somewhere not regularly used by swimmers though, putting shed loads of burley into a metro beach might be a little bit irresponsible!
Yeh was thinking the same thing, will be awesome if we can do a full 24hr session i got a 20litre buck of blended up fish, oil, berley and alot of other things should attract some critters around if not stingrays for sure!
I got my ass handed to me just after sunset this evening. Medium shark took a whole dead herring, swam back and forward just behind a reefy drop off and busted me off above my leader. Was using 9m of 100lb mono leader above the stopper for my slide and still f^*ked me! Ruined the 10m of line above that as well!!
Wind never dropped so saving the rest of my fresh bait for tomorrow night, ill be back to even the score Love this time of year!
We will have to do it then, need to find the beach to use,and get on the wifes good side so she will let me have an all nighter. Heading down to Kwinana Beach tomorrow night for a play with the new rod and reel, but will have to look for something for a couple of weeks time so people can get organised.
no worries,if we try to organise things for about 3 weeks time, should give every one a chance to get organised, and if anyone can make suggestions on beach etc it would be good.
yeah sounds good, try maybe along floreat way, or cottesloe? fish some gutters... try pick a day with minimal swell and wind! ill have to respool my reel and get it to use!
sounds like an awesome idea, im so in for this shark sesh, sumone put a post up or pm ppl when ur actually gunna do this,i work on a charter boat and get heaps of fish all the time.
I can only make the 27th. one idea for an overnighter would be yanchep. Near the groyne north of the lagoon, doesnt require a 4wd. cant see the carpark, but havent heard of too many probs there. just one idea, im sure we can do better....
Sounds good,Yanchep on the 27th,people will have to post if its good for them,I can give a lift to one person if they need it,only have a single cab ute.
Was going to Kwinana, but might make woodman point instead,on the beach between the two points, heading down for about 7.30,high tides about 9.15,so should be good, had some luck down there for tailor and herring so why not,eh!
The new coogee marina has parking infront of the beach its virtually like 30 seconds to walk to the beach infront and is right near the shipwreck the whole stretch doesnt have much people around, can see coogee and woodies at the distance.
theres a beach near the point of woodmans point i used 2 go with my dad like 2 years ago and catch sharks near the dredging jetty its gwd aswell cuz u can baloon with a south westerly
I will be in if other plans dont work out. Perfect timing if im not able to get away for a trip north or south.
Would be good to keep in small groups... say, nothing more than 6 rods out between the group. Would be good to split up and try a few different beaches, depending on the numbers.
Last thing you want is to be hooked up to a good fish and a half dozen other lines.
Could always meet up the next night for a simple surfcasting mission for tailor ( bait catching mission) and talk about our shark mission.
i would rather do the yanchep fish to as ive never fished there always want to try different water but would need transport otherwise i will have to stick with sor
Should we get this sorted,27th November,Yanchep, for the first bash, then organise a sor after we see how this goes.Just need some people to say they will come.
Antsey, Yanchep is north of Perth, where are you living,I am in Thornlie, I dont mind picking you up and giving you a lift.
Guys how about setting up a new thread to get this organised? sort out who is coming and see if anyone hasnt come across this thread yet? I would be pretty keen on fishing SOR as well as I never fish down that way.

How about either the 20th or 27th of November, gives evryone who want to come time to get sorted, all we need now is the beach!
Antsey,I use my 9ft LBG of the beach ok,but its spin, maybe another option is kayaking baits out if the weaher permits!
If we go for the date when the most people can do it,probably the best way.
