Hillarys Bash

Week 2 of 6 of the last of my LSL and after getting back from a week at Busso I was keen to take out some fresh Geo Bay squid for a D-bash and give some jigs a rip. Dropped the kids off at school/daycare and waited the wind out and by 1pm I was pushing out of the marinas, through The Gap and conditions were improving every second.

Trolled around towards some juicy ground I have hoping for some tuna and found a nice lump which pulled up a 48.8cm snapper and an undersized dhu on the jig and gave it a few more runs but checked out my other spot and it was lit up like a xmas tree. 3 drifts later and I had a nice 63cm dhu and a cracking 47cm Black Arse bleed and on ice with the drift bait rig beating the jigs today.

After another crack at the tuna marking some more lumps headed in at 32 knots in dream conditions with Slipknot blaring and was washed down and home by 4pm. Love it.

Magic day and a couple of nice fish as well.

You picked a good window to take your LSL, particularly after the relentless wind we have had over the past months.

Mon, 2018-05-21 16:37

Went from chocolates to boiled lollies in the space of seven days. Took the old man out and just got smashed by pickers today and pulled in a couple of fox fish, Sgt Bakers and wrasse. Hooked a big dhu that was giving me some stick on my PE 3-4 rod and I lost him only to reel in the line and see a pigs tail where the hook used to be... the shame!

Magic day on the water nonetheless and always good to spend quality time with the newly retired old boy. Bring on tomorrow's glorious weather.
