Was pretty high a few weeks back, reckon we coulda dug a trench and got it spillin into the ocean. Ring the boat hire or caravan park, theyll be able to tell you if its burst its banks yet, and if not, take a body board incase 'someone' happens to dig it and get a stationary wave happenin...
Fucking crazy...that stuff though is likely to end in tears if you get someone a little out of their depth in such a situation, so to speak. I'd be on the side with a big fat slab of a fish fillet waiting for the big stuff to show up. Then again, you wouldn't advocate something that is illegal now would you tim-o... ;)
The locals reckon that it spews that far.out that any fish feeding on whats entering the ocean are too far out. Apparenty illegal or fineable if you get caught, but man, it needs to and will happen eventually, prob better for it to sooner than later, a higher level would wash away heaps of the beach I reckon especially if theres fresh rainfall feedin the river. Never been there to see it, but tailor and herring get in the river, wonder if any mullas have made it in and are permanent residents upstream???
Better that nature does it instead of some peanut who digs a trench too close to the dunes where you used to be able to walk around and cause massive carnage.
I read an article in the Western Angler about a bloke who happened to be up there when the Moore broke after several years of not doing it and he happened to have had some decent hookups of mulloway and sharks...wouldn't be a problem just allowing your bait to float out in the flow, bound to catch something out there or on the fringes whether its in close or whatever. The amount of fish that would spew out would be quite high.
As for that last point, I dont see why not and that's something I've always wondered. An old workmate caught a smallish salmon in there when I had visisted late last year, probably a few things out of the ordinary in there.
Yeah, thinkin about it, there would be action at all ranges at the mouth, think the local (hire boat bloke) doesnt want people knowing its a good time to fish the mouth, pretty sure the caravan park dude said the same last year, played it down. Imagine a set net in that wash, prob get a few black bream
Going to take a stab and say next week some time. Don't think there is going to be big amounts of rain (might not take much though to do it...) but seems like more rain at the start of next week along with a bigger swell might force the issue.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Moore River
It's as high as I have seen it for years. Silver Creek Carpark is almost totally covered. If we get rain this week it must let go soon.

We used to get a few small mulloway , well up past Diamond Island years ago.
Haven't fished up there for years but need to get the boat in again.

do you guys think this
do you guys think this weekend will be the days itll break?
The art of fishing consists of casting, winding, trolling and jigging
while freezing, sweating, swatting and swearing.
