Guatemala Sport Fishing. Have any of you been or are interested? We are slamming Sailfish here and blue marlin. What are your thoughts on fishing these regions?

tarpoon
Yeah 100 to 150 plus pound tarpon are on the carribean side of Guatemala. That part of the country is under devolped, but none the less worth the adventure. While we do not offer anything there yet, I know you can rent a local in a panga for 100 to 200 bucks a day.
Pacific sails here are another thing. We will release 20 sails from Nov to may, all weigh more than 125 lbs, maybe the ocassional 150 lb sail fish. A lot of guys are coming down for fly fishing. None the less guys thanks for your opinions, and words.
Tight lines

Cheers for the info Chris,
Cheers for the info Chris, 125 - 150lb Sails sure are big fish and would be a whole lot of fun, are you trollin' baits for them big boys, over here we mainly skip Gars (Ballyhoo) around 6-7 inches or switchbait with livebaits similar.

Sport Fishing
Seems to be the aproach everywhere. Depending on Fly fishing I run maybe 3 teasers, and simply do the old bait and switch. For sure with conventional gear we have maybe 2 or 3 teaser with the same idea. Just reel like hell when one is coming fast, and let out a ballyhoo with a circle hook in its place. It's a blast.

Sorry Saltatrix, should
Sorry Saltatrix, should clear my previous comment up, I didn't see the Tarps on this guys site, just wondering if he does any charters for 'em over that way. Like I said we get those stickybeaks here so big Tarps, Niugini Bass, Nile Perch etc are lttle higher on my to do list.
Cheers, Daisy

I agree. Running with yacths is a god damn crime. My rates in the prime season start at around 550 to 600 a day, and we run any from 5 miles to 30 miles for blue water. Three of your mates, and you got a hell of a trip. I only run center counsel walk arounds. I am a broke fishermen, so this appeals to guys like me.
Cheers,
Chris
