Have been reading up on this as l have a old HDS gen1 GPS unit. Currently not running the updated software as there was no need to update when it first came out. Unit is still reading correct date and time as of today. Will check again 6th of april. Will be interesting as to affects it will have. No one can be certain at this stage
I have a HDS5 and a 7, both gen1. I checked the 5 today and time is OK.. I'l chek date tomorrow. THe 7 is 300km away so i'll check it next trip.
My 5 (and I guess the 7) has the latest software (at around 2012) but I could not load the 'legacy update' I get the NO or incompatible GPS message. I'm hoping that means I dont need the patch.
THe 7 is networked to a Simrad NSS evo2 , which is the 'master' for getting the GPS signals, so I'm hoping that the 7 will be OK. NSSevo2 is apparently not affected (fingers crossed)
Bloody weird that. Charts still showing and I can move cursor around to change positions but I don’t have date or time now. Was all good Sunday. Tracking 8 satellites but even after 10minutes has not found position. ?
My experience... patch went on fine, but it reset all the system settings back to default. This included the setting where the unit draws charts from - in my case I needed to set back to my navionics card.
It did not wipe my waypoints etc but have heard that it did for others.

Mainly older units will be affected
Plenty of info here, as well as links to manufacturers opinions www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/showthread.php/208001-GPS-roll-over-date-BE-AWARE-!
