Golden ponds?

Hi Guys,
Anyone ever caught anything at Golden ponds?
I took the wife and young fella there yesterday arvo, spent $10 each for a fishing fee for a couple of hours, was directed to the "Barra pond" behind the shop and arrived at a 25m x 8m mudpond and tossed some lures in for the arvo - no movement, no bites, no nothing - tried bait pellets too, but absolutley nothing, so ended up taking a dissapointed guy home...?
Asked a few other guys around there and they got nothing either?
Cheap beer and lunch though... $75 for 3 of us for a retaurant meal and 3 drinks each...

I went last year came up with zilch!
Tried bream lures, bait and pellets.
Didn't see anyone else anything except for one guy who caught a carp on maggots.
Wouldn't be rushing back anytime soon.

first rule of thumb with golden ponds
never go in school holidays! all the kids stir the fish up and you wont catch bugger all! i have caught barra there plenty of times but never during or just after school holidays or weekends! some nice trout there in winter and perch and bream are plentiful! but just remember just because its a stocked fishery doesnt mean you dont have to find the fish! there are certain areas that do better than others
ALL FISHERMEN ARE LIARS EXCEPT YOU AND ME! AND IM NOT SO SURE ABOUT YOU!

Is it catch and release
or do you pay extra to keep any fish that you intend to eat? Sounds like it would be worth visiting for something different.

Pay for what you decide to
Pay for what you decide to keep, although I can't see anything tasting too good out of the mudponds. It was good fun for a very lazy day of fishing but I think I'd really rather be down on the beach.
If you go in summer take bug repellent or one of the face mesh thingamagigs, the flies were shocking.
