Furuno 600L help

Furuno 600L sounder went haywire yesterday and displays 500 metres in Hillarys harbour ! anyone seen this happen before ? transducer or electonics fault ? and any recommendations for a repairer ?

Sounds like it's searching for bottom. All connections tight ? Is the transducer still in the correct position ?

Have you got it set on auto range or something?
Try the obvious shit first like set the depth on screen manually, gain down, plugs cleaning.

If it’s a electronic problem, they just aren’t worth fixing, better getting another one as the 600 is pretty old.
Great sounder though, I only replaced mine with a 620 as it packed up.
$350 I think and it’s still all I use

Checked that the tranducer is solid and appears OK, tried the auto and manual settings and it didn't make much difference so suspect the Electonics, does any one run this model that I can confirm/test ? looks like an update to 628
