Furuno 295 in shallow water
Submitted by pricey10 on Wed, 2017-04-05 18:56
Hi guys. Im just chasing some feedback on running a furuno 295 in shallower water 45-70m. The boat i just brought already have a 2kw tranny thru hull mounted in it i was going to install a 588 with a 1kw but for around the same price i could buy a 295 and use the transducer i have. I mainly fish 50-70 and push out deep on the odd occasion. Just wondering if the 295 would be a huge over kill in that depth

Performance will depend on
Performance will depend on the transducer so will be best you id it.
The cable might have a label on it somewhere or on the actual transducer itself.
You will need to know the unit anyway so you can set it up in the 295 tap settings

Lowrance HDS10
Rip it all out mate and install a Lowrance. You won't regret it.

old 295
I'll buy your "old junky over-powered" 295 for a couple of hundred if you were thinking of turfing it.

Furuno 295
I replaced my Lowrance sounder with transom mount 600w with a Furuno 295 with a pair of thru hull Airmar ss264 transducers ...200khz and 50khz. The lowrance was awesome up to 120m. The 295 is better, and goes to over 500m
