Freo Rail Bridge Rock Wall
Submitted by TAPOUT on Thu, 2017-08-03 12:58
Just giving people a heads up that we are currently building a rock armour wall to protect the rail bridge from stray ships hitting the bridge.
This wall will be on the Northern side of the rail bridge.
My concern is that even while we are working in our restricted area we have still had boats and even Kayaks enter the area. We are still placing rock and they are just below the surface at this stage. So if you enter the restricted area you will run aground. There will be special markets in place once finished but rocks will only protrude minimally during high tide once finished. So just be aware of this new obstacle.
On another note I'm thinking the potential for a really good fish attraction could be a huge bonus.

Went past on the train this arvo, could see the rocks nearly lapping out the water surface in the wind. Was told by a mate about it and the next morning work had commenced already !

Stray ships!
If there's one thing in the world that you don't want to go astray, it's a ship!

saw that in one of the local papers. Sounds like a good idea however i assumed those concrete pylons infront the rail bridge recently installed would of been enough. IDM at all is a free artificial reef within casting distance of the rail bridge pylon that u can get on.
Slowly trying to suss out the yellow tail kings/sambos but having a rough time. Soon im hoping.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.
