Formatting movie help

Spent the last few days trying in vain to take movies off a memory card and put them on a dvd so they can be played on any TV. Can anyone give me a heads up on how to do it please

Can burn them to disc but cannot open each file on the dvd player.

You'll need to either use a program that burns DVDs with then very specific file structure they need. You can't just burn the videos unless your DVD player is compatible with them (e.g. Some can play divx and avi's). Someone may be able to advise some free tools. I've used Nero as it came with my burner. The program walks you through what you need to do. What software did you use to burn the files and do you have a PC or a Mac?

Should be able to plug the camera direct to the tv with the right cables though.

I've got a pc but the friend who asked me has all her movies on memory cards and wants to make copies so she can send them off to her rellies.

Bought the latest Nero program and have tried to work it again without success-----not really up to scratch on these things Í have to admit

Bit tricky to advise you when I don't know what the formats are. Can you right click one of the files on the memory cards and tell me the extension of it, something like mkv, avi, divx etc. Then you need to ask your friend what formats their DVD player plays. If you google the model number, it should tell you. Once you know all those, it's quite straight forward. I can post links or tell you how to do it. As hlokk says, Nero is v good but it's hard to help without knowing formats.

Load the movies onto your hard drive first, run them through 'Movie maker' or similar then export to DVD through Nero, dont try going direct from cards to DVD the card probably isn't fast enough to keep up with the disk burn.
