G'day everyone
Recently embarked on a road trip around Australia. Left Perth on the 1st of July and recently arrived in Mackay Qld.
Locals is a bit tight as to where to throw a line seems a bit hostile towards people from WA.
Does anyone on this forum have any info that can help plan is to stay untill end August mid Sept before moving
around to Weipa etc.
Cheers
All the best

spot
was fishing on the beach there. got a few flatties on small sp's. did not do much fishing there because i was on the move as well, but looked promising.
if you come by townsville, try shelley beach just north of town. it's a bit of a hike over the rocks but certainly pays off. got barra, trevally and a shovelnose there.
cheers

Assuming you're landbased,
Assuming you're landbased, have a go at the local marina & fish the southwall.
Plenty of places to fish up that way.

I was sitting at the bar in
I was sitting at the bar in the marina one day and watched a guy land a barra well over a metre from the pontoon where you tie your boat up while you park your trailer. There are some pylons to the east and just a short cast away- the fish was hooked in there. He had 2 livies out and the other one hooked up too but he couldn't land both and one tied him up in the pylons. Also have caught coral trout off the south wall, no need to cast too far.
