Gurnard
Can give you a nasty sting. Some people reckon they are good eating but not worth the risk IMO for the amount of meat you get off one so I just cut them off and let them have the hook

gurnard
definately a gurnard, very good eating, often referred to as the poor mans lobster, but personally not worth the effort, get spiked by it and your going to know about it for a longgggggggggg time afterwards

Gurnard
Common in the area however usally out a little deeper. That one looks like it has come off weedy ground they change to a red when out there on coral. Good thick fillet of white flesh. They always cop a belt over the head with the woddy prior to me unhooking them.
Its a little late to head home early

Just In case
I agree, its a Gurnard, and also they do give a somewhat painful sting to the unwary.if you or crew are stung(spinned)then any hot water eve tea or coffee as long as it is hot put your finger or hand in and this will help relieve the pain,I do not thing they will kill you but I can vouch for it hurting for a while, hot water is the trick with most fish type spines /stings,better not to get stung though as I like my coffee hot and unfingerd,I know were some of you people stick
