looks like one to me but havnt caught many. 

 

edit - prob not a gold band with the blue bits and different scales around the top.

some places sell them as NW Snapper. Not a patch on Red Throats, Spangos, Blue Line. Etc.

definatey a brown striped snapper (AKA a brown hussar or brown stripe sea perch)

They are classed as tropical,

 but we have always had the lesser tropicals here. Stripeys, Hussars,  Moses Perch, as well as the bigger ones like reds and Rankins.
